Mtolrolite

Mtorlolite has several names and is also known by the names Zimbabwe Chrome Chalcedony, Mtorodit, Matorolite. The locals in Bolivia also call this stone Chiquitanita.

This stone is believed to have been first found in what is now Turkey in ancient times. Nowadays it is mainly found in Zimbabwe and Bolivia, but has also been discovered in Australia, Turkey, the Balkans and the Ural Mountains. It was often used in Roman times as jewelry but then disappeared from the market for a long time. Only after its rediscovery in Zimbabwe in the 1950s did it come back for sale.

Mtorolite is a variant of Chalcedony that is often associated with Chrysoprase. Unlike chrysoprase, this stone has acquired its natural color through the growth of chromium, giving it a darker green tone reminiscent of Emerald
